Focus only on the moment. If distracting thoughts try to invade your mind, dismiss them at once and keep focusing on your breathing.

Here are some other steps you can take boost your self-esteem:

  • Nurture your body. Eat a nutritious diet and exercise. You will look and feel better if you are properly nourished and exercise will release neurotransmitters called endorphins that help you feel good about yourself.
  • Take pride in your appearance. Pay attention to your personal grooming and hygiene. Leave your house each morning looking and feeling your best.
  • Take care of your surroundings: Keep your house, your desk and your office clean, uncluttered and decorated with items that bring you joy and make you smile.
  • Ignore your inner critic: The way you talk to yourself affects the way you feel about yourself. When you start to think a negative thought about yourself, immediately replace it with a positive thought. Don’t give negative seeds a chance to take root.
  • Embrace nature: Talk a walk in the woods, spend a day on the lake or enjoy a picnic with a friend. When we are outside we connect with Mother Nature which nourishes the soul and helps us get life into perspective.
  • Help somebody: The warm fuzzy feeling that comes from helping others can do wonders for our self-esteem. Reaching out to others promote positive energy in our hearts and heads.
