When it comes to making a lasting change in your life with therapy, finding the right one takes time. Many people have reported that energy therapy techniques are effective in treating several different conditions and situations. If you would like to learn more about energy therapy techniques and what they are used for, please read on.

There are two primary types of energy therapy: Veritable and Putative. Veritable energy therapy is a term used by the scientific community to identify techniques that use scientifically verifiable energy to illicit change in a person. These may include magnet, light or even sound wave therapies.

Putative–the second type of energy therapy–refers to healing techniques that utilize scientifically unverifiable energies. These may refer to chi, mana, prana, psychic or other life-force energies.

Some of the more common techniques include:

  • Qigong Healing
  • Crystal Healing
  • Reiki
  • Acupuncture
  • Ayurvedic Medicine

Sometimes people turn to practitioners of these techniques to address physical injuries or psychological conditions. One of the more common threads with these healing techniques is the belief that there are subtle energies that flow in and out of our bodies and connect to a larger and more universal source. When we experience emotional problems or physical ailments, the idea is that the cause may be a disruption in this energy. These healing techniques are designed to address the disruption and help people live a healthier life.

One energy therapy technique that has become increasingly popular is acupuncture. This is a traditional Chinese healing technique that uses thin needles to stimulate energy points in various points of the body. This technique is used to treat a wide variety of ailments, from back problems to depression.

There are also several variations of acupuncture techniques that may be effective for treating illnesses, including:

  • Cupping
  • Acupressure
  • Electroacupuncture
  • Tuina
  • Moxibustion

Acupuncture has been used for centuries in China and has been developing a wide following in the Western world. In fact, some insurance companies include acupuncture as a network-approved therapy for several different conditions.

Meditation is another technique that may address the flow of subtle energies throughout the body. In fact, there is plenty of scientific evidence that proves meditation is effective for treating depression and managing stress. There are several different types of meditation and some are designed to cultivate and manipulate energy throughout the body to both prevent and eliminate diseases.

Reiki is an alternative medicine that was developed by a Japanese Buddhist named Mikao Usui. Practitioners of Reiki are believed to manipulate “Qi” energy throughout the body to address various conditions and disorders. People who suffer from gastric disorders, high blood pressure and even morning sickness have all benefited from Reiki therapy.

Therapeutic Touch is another popular energy therapy that is said to help anxiety and pain. Individuals who practice this type of healing are trained to be more sensitive to bio energy and will attempt to identify and eliminate disruptions by using their hands to manipulate this energy. Many individuals in the nursing profession are also trained in Therapeutic Touch.

Energy therapy techniques have been used to address a wide variety of diseases and conditions. We are learning new things about the body and the mind every day and there is no doubt that we have much to learn about energy healing. Some techniques—like meditation—have a substantial amount of research to support claims of its effectiveness. If you have been dealing with a condition that is uncomfortable or undesirable, you may want to consider one of these alternative therapies.
