4 Thought Provoking Questions Everyone Should Answer

Life is full of questions. What are you going to wear today? What do you want to eat for lunch? What should you do this weekend? Where do you want to vacation next?

While all those questions need to get answered, there are four questions that are much more important. These are questions that provide you your purpose; your meaning of life. Ready? Let’s go.

Question #1: What do you want people to say about you at your funeral?

Imagine when you die. Who would attend the funeral? What would they say? Most importantly, what do you want them to say about you?

Once you answer that question, you’ll have a clearer understanding of what you wish to do with your life. You’ll know who you want to be and the qualities you want to possess.

Do you want them to say you were kind? Hard working? Compassionate? Caring? What words do you want them to use to describe you?

Now here’s the tough question: are you living your life in a way that they would use those words to describe you today? If not, why not? What changes can you make so that they would?

Commit to doing something every day to embrace the qualities you want to possess. Make it a priority to be the person you want to be.

Question #2: If money was irrelevant, what would you do for a living?

Some people know the answer to this question right away. If you do, that’s great. If not, that’s okay too. It’s common to quit thinking about options once you start your full-time job or career.

Think about it though. What would you do if money weren’t necessary for survival? Would you become an engineer, doctor, lawyer, police officer or psychologist? How about a microbiologist, veterinarian, gardener or phlebotomist? Where are your interests?

There’s an old saying that if you do what you love then you’ll never work a day in your life. While most people agree with that statement, a lot of the times they feel stuck in their job; unable to change careers due to financial or family reasons.

If you can’t do what you love for a living, at least try to incorporate it into a hobby. See if you can work part-time in that field or even volunteer. Yes, it will take more time out of your schedule, but it will be time well spent.

Question #3: If you were guaranteed success, what one thing would you do?

Often times, we don’t try something because we’re afraid of failure. We’d rather sit on the sidelines and be content than go out on the field and risk screwing things up.

But, life is about challenges and experiences. And, there’s no such thing as failure. It’s called a learning experience. Edison didn’t get the light bulb right until his one-thousandth try. He was guaranteed success because he wasn’t going to stop until he got it.

So, what is one thing that you’ve not done because you feared failure? Is it a business venture? Or, maybe it’s a physical challenge, like running a marathon? Whatever it is, commit to doing it. You will succeed as long as you never quit.

Question #4: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Most people can spout off twenty things, but what if you could pick just one? Which one is most important?

Would you be more even-tempered? Would you spend more time with family? Maybe you’d be more self-confident?

Whatever one you pick, you’ll notice that you have the power to change. You control all of your qualities. It’s completely up to you which ones you possess. So, do something every day that promotes change of that one thing.
Well, how did you do with these four questions? A lot to figure out, right? If you feel lost on some of the answers, that’s normal.

But, if you want to find your purpose, take the time to thoroughly answer each question. If you feel stuck, meditation can help you clear your head and achieve some insight as to what’s important to you.

Answer these four questions and you have the key to your happiness. How cool is that?
