Harness Your Power of Dreaming Big and Achieve Great Things
Do you have a dream that seems out of this world? Like it’s so big you wonder if you‘ll ever achieve it?
If you do, then that’s great. It’s people like you who are the movers and shakers of this world. Where would we be if Benjamin Franklin hadn’t dreamed of creating electricity or Thomas Edison hadn’t pursued his goal of inventing the light bulb?
When you dream big, you tend to accomplish big. You use the energy that your dream creates to propel you into action. You test the limits and do the unthinkable. You don’t stop where others have. No, you do whatever is necessary to turn your dream into a reality.
Harness Your Power
Want to join the big dreamers and do amazing things? It’s actually quite easy. All you have to do is harness the power – your power. How?
Try these simple steps:
- Find what you’re passionate about. What lights your fire and excites you to the depths of your soul? What makes you smile every time you think about it and always ends in a vision of you achieving great things? If you can’t answer that question right away, don’t worry. A lot of people can’t. When you spend most of your time dealing with fulfilling obligations, it’s easy to lose sight of desires that are buried in our hearts. If you need help answering this question, try meditation. It helps give you clarity as you try to answer this very important question.
- Set a goal. Once you’ve identified your passion, decide how you want to use it. Don’t confine yourself to something small either. Remember, you’re dreaming big. Not sure what you want to do? Try this. Ask yourself what you would do if you were guaranteed success. When you get that answer, challenge yourself by setting that as your goal.
- Create a plan. It’s time to make your goal a reality. Come up with how you can achieve your huge vision. Brainstorm different ideas. Decide if it would involve other people’s assistance and, if it does, who would they be? One way to set an effective plan is to work from the end result backwards. Start with your goal and set steps that take you from there to where you are today.
- Take action. This one step is what separates the dreamers and the doers. Put your plan into action. Without this final and very important step, your dream remains nothing more than a dream. Start taking the steps you created to make your vision a reality. Aim to do one thing every day that gets you closer to your goal. It doesn’t have to be something big either. Every step, whether large or small, moves you forward.
Keep faith
When you want to accomplish big things, it’s easy to be overwhelmed. Maybe you’re going into territory that no one else has gone, or very few have survived. Many people have started after their dreams only to turn around and retreat into the comfort and safety of life as they know it.
However, if you keep the faith, your perseverance will pay off. Yes, you’ll hit road blocks and stumble a time or two. Maybe your path will change entirely from the one you intended to take. But, as long as you believe that you will achieve your goal, you will make it happen no matter what, just like Edison and Franklin.
Dreaming big is powerful and, acting on that dream takes a lot of guts and courage. Who knows? Maybe you’ll invent something that changes the world? You won’t know unless you try, right?
